If you are traveling with your infant and want to know what you are allowed to carry on the flight and its weight limit, you should refer to the baggage allowance specified in your booked fare. Jetstar Airways offers a flexible baggage policy, which can be adjusted according to your needs. Therefore, it is essential to check the Jetstar Airways baggage policy to determine the allowed luggage limit for your flight. It is a crucial aspect of air travel because, if known beforehand, you can make a decision with that in mind. By reading this post, you will be informed about Jetstar Airways' Baggage Allowance in accordance with the fares.

Jetstar Airways Baggage Policy

1. Jetstar Airways Carry-on Baggage Allowances

  • When traveling with Jetstar Airways, the carry-on baggage allowance varies depending on the fare you have booked.
    • With the Economy fare, you are allowed to carry 7 kg or up to 14 kg of luggage.
    • With the Business fare of the Jetstar Airways, you have a 14 kg allowance.
  • When you have the business fare of Jetstar Airways that allows 14kg, you should note that you cannot carry one item weighing 10kg or more. The weight of the baggage can be shared across two items: the main item and the small item.
  • The main item in the carry-on baggage allowance must fit in the overhead bins—the measurements are 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm, including the handles and wheels.
  • The small item must fit under the seat in front of you and is considered a secondary item. It consists of a purse, a handbag, a laptop, an umbrella, a camera, a coat, a blanket, and baby items, infant goods, and duty-free goods.
  • If you want to carry extra carry-on baggage with Jetstar Airways, you will need to pay AUD $55 for the first 15 kg on domestic flights and AUD $80 for the first 15 kg on international flights.

2. Jetstar Airways Checked Baggage Allowances

  • The checked baggage allowance of Jetstar Airways depends on the fare or the bundles that you have booked:
    • With the Economy fare and bundles, checked baggage is already included. You can purchase extra baggage up to 40 kg by paying the applicable fees.
    • In the business fare of the Jetstar Airways, an additional 30 kg is included. You can buy an extra 10 kg of checked baggage.
  • If you are traveling with a child or an infant, then you are allowed to carry some items in the checked baggage, such as a Pram, a Portable Cot, a High Chair, or a car seat.
  • You can also request a wheelchair if it meets the size and weight restrictions.
  • The maximum weight allowed per passenger on Jetstar Airways is 40 kg. One single bag cannot weigh 32 kg or more.
  • You will be charged AUD $55 to $80 to add baggage allowance to your checked baggage. If you want to add weight per kg, then you will be charged AUD $20 per kg.

3. Jetstar Airways Oversized Baggage

  • The oversized baggage of Jetstar Airways will be counted as checked baggage, allowing you to add more baggage allowance accordingly.
  • If the oversized baggage is essential for mobility reasons or is a pram or any other item for the child, it will not be counted as checked baggage. It will not charge a fee.
  • Jetstar Airways' oversized baggage includes Surfboards, skis, snowboards, fishing rods, musical instruments, golf clubs, bikes, and other large items.
  • You will be charged a fee for handling oversized items. For Jetstar flights, the fee is AUD $25.

Conclusion:

It is not guaranteed that your luggage will fit within the Jetstar Airways Baggage Allowance, so you always have the option to purchase additional baggage, which offers flexibility.
